Announcing two new partnerships with the
Indianapolis Youth Leadership Academy
Indianapolis Youth Leadership Academy
Our first partnership is with The Beech Grove Comprehensive Drug-free Coalition, in association with CADCA (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America) to develop youth and parental training programs in support of reducing drug substance abuse with an emphasis on opioid usage, and to promote healthy family values and practices. The Beech Grove CDFC also works in conjunction with the St. Francis Health Network.
Our second partnership is with the Indiana State Police Youth Services, which provide Career Camps which are co-sponsored by the American Legion and held in Anderson Indiana during the summer months. The Youth Academy lessons of Leadership and Mentorship are now taught to the youth cadets each year.

"The circumstances of trials and tribulations do not shape or dictate your character, they only reveal your character to others. Leaders understand Adversity simply introduces a man or woman to Themselves and gives Opportunities for Improvement, to grow and refine ones’ character."
- Dr. Harry Reeder |
"Successful people lead, and the earlier the knowledge and skills of leadership are acquired, the more successful an individual will be in life. The IYLA’s one week training program provides young men and women with the knowledge and leadership skills to teach, coach, direct, and support those who are working with one another, to effectively solve problems and accomplish missions.
Individuals who have graduated from the academy are inspired to reach their full potential as adults with the ability to provide mentorship, ethical guidance, and character development to those they lead. I would encourage young people who have a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed in life to apply for an opening with the Indianapolis Youth Leadership Academy." - Doug Carter, Superintendent Indiana State Police |
What is the Indianapolis Youth Leadership Academy?
The Indianapolis Youth Leadership Academy (IYLA) is a tuition free five-day learning experience for young men and women 15 - 18 years of age, interested in receiving a basic knowledge of leadership regarding individuals and organizations. Students are accepted from the Indianapolis metropolitan area including the surrounding counties. The only requirements are a desire for success, a positive attitude, and a good work ethic. The focus of the instruction is on the individual leader, as well as specific ways the students can lead persons with differing levels of ability and motivation. In each of the classes presented, character, ethics, mentorship, service to others, and individual success are stressed by the instructors. Instruction would benefit all young people, especially those pursuing a career in Business, Public Service, Education, Government or Public Administration, Public Health, Public Safety, or any other career where leadership is required. The instruction, all materials (in a full binder, presented to each student who may keep it for a lifetime of reference) and lunch each day are being offered at no cost to the student. Each student receives credit for 45 hours of in-service academic training.
All Academy instruction and work done by the student may be done during the class hours as there will be practical exercises and time to work on projects above the material, training, and information covered by the instructors
